About Rio Vista

With over 1000 homes in a luxurious community that sports properties with great architectural design and tree-lined streets, there’s everything to love about Rio Vista.
Rio Vista, which literally translates to ‘Riverview’ in Spanish, is an upscale residential area with the New River by the south, the Intracoastal waterway by the east and U.S 1 Federal highway on the west.
Rio Vista developed in the 1920’s after Fort Lauderdale commenced the change from an agricultural community to a resort town. A major landholder, Mary Brickell, began the development of Rio Vista into a residential area. Upon her death, the rights to the land were bought by C.J. Hector who then proceeded with the development of Rio Vista.
Rio Vista is a picturesque area that boasts lush tropical landscaping and beautiful tree-lined streets. It features many luxurious waterfront homes along the Intracoastal Waterway with some properties on water and others on land. The homes are located on the Isle along the wide and deep canal that allows for easy yacht dockage. The homes offer direct access to the ocean via the 17th street causeway bridge.
